Sherona Thompson

Veterinary Nurse (cert IV veterinary nursing )

Meet Sherona — one of the friendly faces on our team since 2018!

Sherona brought her passion and experience with her when she moved up from Albany to join us. Growing up surrounded by all animals — including horses — her love for the rural lifestyle was sparked early and only grew stronger during her time at Denmark Ag. Before qualifying as a vet nurse, Sherona threw herself into every animal-related opportunity she could — from mustering cattle in the Pilbara to exploring marine biology.

These days, she calls a peaceful property east of Katanning home, where she shares life with her partner and young growing family. Outside of the clinic, Sherona also works alongside her husband’s family on their mixed farming operation, which includes cropping, a Merino ram and ewe stud, and commercial sheep.

In the clinic, Sherona has a real passion for surgery — she finds great reward in seeing an injury come back together beautifully after a careful stitch-up, and she especially loves the magic of a caesarean section, watching those precious pups take their first breath and the mother’s natural instinct kick in after such a major procedure.

With a strong work ethic, a kind nature, and a true love for animals, Sherona is a valued and dedicated part of our team — and we’re lucky to have her!

Leanne Pierre Humbert

Senior Veterinarian (Bsc Bvms)

Leanne began her veterinary career at Armadale - Byford Vet Hospital after graduating from Murdoch University in 1982. Wanting a break from dairy practice and racetrack work, Leanne made the move to Kojonup in 1985 and, apart from a brief return to Armadale - Byford while her sons were going to school in Perth, she has been here ever since. Initially working for Paddy Batch, after marrying Mick, Leanne decided to branch out on her own and started the Kojonup Vet Hospital in 1989 on their farm. With three small boys she decided to move the practice into town in the early 1990s to enable her to employ a second veterinarian. She leased the practice in 2001 but continued to service a small number of clients. Leanne returned to working at Kojonup Vet Hospital in 2011. Horses have been a big part of Leanne's life since she began riding at age six and she has been heavily involved with polocrosse and pony club in Kojonup, so it is no surprise that equine medicine is her speciality. However, having thirty years experience in mixed practice, she enjoys treating all creatures great and small. Away from Kojonup Vet Hospital Leanne is kept busy with her family - husband Mick and sons Nicholas, James and Thomas, her menagerie of horses, dogs, cats and sheep and farming. On the equine front Leanne has recently rediscovered a passion for dressage and has started on the pathway to become an instructor for Riding For The Disabled. When she finds time she also enjoys cooking.

Harriet Moss

Veterinarian (BSc BVMS)

Harriet joined our team in early 2019 after graduating from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery.

She also has a strong passion for ovine health and production, bringing valuable knowledge and practical expertise to both companion animal care and livestock management.

Harriet thrives in busy, hands-on environments and enjoys the diverse challenges that come with working in a mixed practice. Her energy, skill set, and approachable nature make her an invaluable member of our veterinary team.

Outside the clinic, Harriet lives on a sheep and wheat farm in Gnowangerup with her husband, Brenton, along with their four dogs and cat. Together, they run Yonga Downs White Suffolk Stud, established in 2016. Now based in Broomehill West, the stud has expanded to include over 300 breeding ewes and produces around 100 stud rams each year. The enterprise is focused on structural soundness, early maturity, eating quality, and delivering commercially relevant Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBVs).
